I hate to be the bearer of good and bad news but Zara have launched their new Studio collection just a few days ago... and I'm obsessed. However, as we're all familiar with, Zara is one of the most popular high street fashion brands, which means they are the entity of Fast Fashion.
Like I mentioned in a previous post, "There is a reason why fashion fashion is cheap. Fast fashion is the concept of brands producing new styles in line with the latest trends, particularly from off the runway. Since trends tend to only last a season or two, these collections must be produced as quickly as possible. This means that clothes are mass-produced and sold in relatively low prices for their customers. Fast Fashion often means forced labour and in no shape or form is it good for us or our planet."
I am an advocate for reducing the effects of fast fashion as much as one can possibly do, but as an 18-year-old student on a student loan working on a fashion degree, where else am I to shop? I do try my best, however there is only so much time one can spend browsing for decent listings on eBay.
But from one fashion-lover to another, do check out eBay and Depop. I have purchased items BNWT that were completely sold out from different retailers for half the price. Just remember, your best friend will be the filter button. I could do a whole blogpost on the right way to find items on eBay!
If you don't have a guilty conscience and don't care about the effects of fast fashion, check Zara's Studio collection out here.
At first glance, it reminds me of the bootleg-version of Dior F/W 2018 which isn't a surprise as Zara has the reputation of copying trends shown by luxury fashion houses.
Check out my blogpost on fast fashion copying fashion houses.
