THE BATTLE OF THE MICRO BAGS

One of the most notable bag trends this season has been the rise of micro handbags.
Are we a fan or a foe? A fan!
Apart from the fact the only thing it could hold is my patience or my will to live, they're still an accessory to any outfit.

So when exactly did the trend start? Brands like Jacquemus and Fendi have played their part with the iconic "Le Saq Chiquito" and the "Peekaboo" bags, and high street stores like Zara have followed suit to provide an affordable version.

But the real question remains; who would win in the battle of the micro bags? Lets round up all our fighters and score them. We'll take into consideration their size, their aesthetic and their consumer.

The first fighter is the Jacquemus' Le Saq Chiquito bag.
Score: 9/10
Comments: Seen on Rihanna and Kim Kardashian, the Chiquito bag (small in Spanish, or what I call the Chiquitito bag as it is very small compared to the average bag) is a notable fighter. It comes in various different colours, composition is either leather or suede and is sold for a reasonable price considering its a fashion house. It retails for around 400 euros, which equates to around £350. An expensive bargain!

The second fighter is the Chanel Quilted Mini Classic Flap bag.
Score: 7/10
Comments: Is it cute? Yes. Would it be my first choice? No. Chanel flap bags are a classic piece, and are usually seen as investments for decades to come. But lambskin wears horribly over the years (unless you purchase the grained leather version) but in all seriousness, lets not even get into the fact major fashion houses are still using dead animals to make accessories. Not on my watch! Also, just compare the price point to the Jacquemus bag and you're saving yourself a few grand.

The third fighter is the Fendi Peekaboo bag.
Score: 6/10
Comments: The bag is a classic and has been on the market for years, but at a price point of upwards of £1,000 (some even £5,000?!?!), its a no from me. But as one of the first of its kind on the market, I think it at least deserves a fair 6, not that anyone cares.

The fourth fighter is the Louis Vuitton Mini Monogram Canvas Speedy bag.
Score: 10/10
Comments: I'm unbiased and give this a fair 10/10 (did I forget to mention that I own this bag?) Oops.

The fifth fighter is the Shrimps Antonia Mini Pearl bag.
Score: 7/10
Comments: Shrimps isn't that well-known a brand, but their pearl bag definitely became a cult favourite when it first came out a few years ago. They retail for around £380, which is doable.

The sixth fighter is the Dior Mini Diorama bag.
Score: 8/10
Comments: The wallet and bag 2-in-1 comes in at a 8/10, mainly down to availability. Its a hard bag to get your hands on, and if you do find someone selling it, they will ask close to retail price.

The seventh fighter is the Prada Mini Saffiano bag.
Score: 5/10
Comments: Not my first choice of mini bag, especially since RRP is around £900. The shape of the bag itself has never appealed to me, however, I did see someone stunting the mid-blue version on Instagram and it changed my mind about them.

The eighth fighter is the YSL Monogram College Crossbody bag.
Score: 6/10
Comments: I have never seen a fashion blogger wear this bag (or anyone except the runway model for that matter) and only included it because I couldn't finish on no.7. Its nothing too exciting for a bag, but it is so cute. Whether its limited exposure boils down to influences not taking a liking to the style bag, or whether its because YSL didn't send it out to influencers for free as a marketing tactic; we will never know...

Which micro bag is your favourite?
